Low circMTO1 expression was associated with advanced TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, and poor overall survival; circMTO1 may serve as a potential predictor, biomarker, and therapeutic target for CRC.
circMTO1 is down-regulated in colorectal cancer tissues and cell lines, and low expression is associated with advanced TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, and poor overall survival. Functionally, circMTO1 suppresses CRC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, at least partly by inhibiting the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway and its downstream targets beta-catenin, c-myc, and cyclin D1.
