This study shows that oleate induces circHIPK3 expression in HepG2 cells and that circHIPK3 promotes lipid accumulation, triglyceride content, cellular glucose production, and gluconeogenic gene expression. Mechanistically, circHIPK3 sponges miR-192-5p to relieve repression of FOXO1, forming a circHIPK3-miR-192-5p-FOXO1 axis involved in hyperglycemia and insulin resistance. |
