Lower cESRP1 expression correlates with extensive disease stage and poorer overall survival; low cESRP1 is an independent prognostic marker in SCLC. |
| Description: |
In SCLC, cESRP1 is down-regulated in chemoresistant cells and patient tumors. It localizes mainly to the cytoplasm and acts as a ceRNA by sponging miR-93-5p to upregulate Smad7 and p21(CDKN1A), thereby inhibiting TGF-beta/Smad-driven EMT and enhancing chemotherapy sensitivity. Low cESRP1 expression is associated with poorer overall survival and serves as an independent prognostic marker. |
