| Biological function: |
Suppresses gastric cancer cell growth, invasion, and metastasis; acts as a tumor suppressor. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
circ-HuR binds CNBP and restrains CNBP binding to the HuR promoter, reducing HuR transcription/expression and repressing tumor progression. |
| Biological pathway or process: |
proliferation (inhibits); invasion (inhibits); metastasis (inhibits); angiogenesis (inhibits); other pathway/process (inhibits) |

| Clinical significance: |
Lower circ-HuR expression was associated with lower survival probability of gastric cancer patients; circ-HuR levels were a prognostic factor (HR=0.616). |
| Description: |
circ-HuR (hsa_circ_0049027), a HuR-derived nuclear circRNA, is down-regulated in gastric cancer and suppresses malignant phenotypes (growth, invasion, metastasis) in vitro and in vivo. It directly binds CNBP and inhibits CNBP transactivation on the HuR promoter, thereby reducing HuR expression and downstream oncogenic effects; low circ-HuR is associated with worse patient survival. |
