Description:

circSMYD4 (hsa_circ_0004018), derived from SMYD4, is down-regulated in HCC tissues/cells and predominantly localized in the cytoplasm. Functionally, circSMYD4 acts as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting proliferation, migration/invasion and EMT while promoting apoptosis and reducing xenograft tumor growth. Mechanistically, it sponges miR-584-5p, and miR-584-5p overexpression partially rescues circSMYD4-mediated effects.
