| Associated gene: |
c-Myc, TGF-beta1, ESRP1, UHRF1 mRNA |
| Associated microRNA: |
miR-526b-5p |
| Biological function: |
circUHRF1 promotes OSCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, EMT, tumor growth and tumorigenesis; knockdown represses these malignant phenotypes. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
circUHRF1 functions as a ceRNA sponge for miR-526b-5p to upregulate c-Myc; c-Myc promotes transcription of TGF-beta1 and ESRP1; ESRP1 promotes circUHRF1 circularization and biogenesis by binding flanking introns, forming a feedback loop. |

| Clinical significance: |
circUHRF1 overexpression was closely correlated with poor prognosis of OSCC patients; patients with high circUHRF1 had lower survival rate. |
| Description: |
circUHRF1 is an upregulated oncogenic circRNA in OSCC cells and tissues, and high expression is associated with poor patient survival. It promotes proliferation, migration, invasion, EMT and xenograft tumor growth by sponging miR-526b-5p to increase c-Myc, which activates TGF-beta1 and ESRP1 transcription; ESRP1 further enhances circUHRF1 biogenesis, forming a positive feedback loop. |
