Over-expression of hsa_circ_0001649 inhibits proliferation, migration, and invasion and promotes apoptosis of HCC cells; low expression is associated with poor overall survival. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
The exact underlying mechanism of hsa_circ_0001649 in regulating HCC progression was not determined in this study. |

| Clinical significance: |
Low hsa_circ_0001649 expression was associated with poor overall survival, and hsa_circ_0001649 was identified as an independent favorable predictor and novel prognostic biomarker for HCC patients. |
| Description: |
In this study, hsa_circ_0001649 was significantly down-regulated in HCC tissues and several HCC cell lines. Low expression predicted poorer overall survival, while high expression was favorable. Functional assays showed that hsa_circ_0001649 over-expression suppresses HCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion and promotes apoptosis, suggesting a tumor-suppressive role and potential prognostic/therapeutic value. |
