| Associated gene: |
KLF4, KLF-4, MMP-2, MMP-9, p65, IKK-alpha, NF-kappaB |
| Associated microRNA: |
miR-7 |
| Biological function: |
ciRS-7 promotes the migration and invasion of ESCC cells, while no significant effect on proliferation was observed in KYSE150 and Eca9706 cells. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
ciRS-7 acts through the miR-7/KLF4 axis and activation of NF-kappaB p65 signaling; ciRS-7 increases p65 expression via phosphorylation of IKK-alpha. |
| Biological pathway or process: |
migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); NF-kappaB (promotes); ceRNA regulation (promotes) |

| Validation methods: |
RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; MTT; Wound Healing Assay; Transwell Assay; Western Blot; Bioinformatics Analysis |
| Clinical significance: |
Targeted inhibition of ciRS-7 might be a potential approach for ESCC treatment. |
| Description: |
ciRS-7 is up-regulated in ESCC tissues and cell lines. Functionally, overexpression of ciRS-7 promotes ESCC cell migration and invasion, with little effect on proliferation in the tested KYSE150 and Eca9706 cells. Mechanistically, ciRS-7 acts through the miR-7/KLF4 axis and activates NF-kappaB p65 signaling via IKK-alpha phosphorylation, suggesting ciRS-7 as a potential therapeutic target for ESCC. |
