circFUT8 was upregulated in lung cancer tissues and correlated with advanced stages and poor prognosis
circFUT8 (hsa_circ_0003028), derived from FUT8, is upregulated in lung cancer/NSCLC tissues and associates with advanced stage and poor overall survival. Functionally, it promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration and invasion while inhibiting apoptosis, and it drives an immunosuppressive microenvironment by promoting M2 macrophage polarization. Mechanistically, circFUT8 binds the RBP ENO1 in the cytoplasm, enhancing glycolysis/lactate production to activate TNF signaling and downstream genes (e.g., JUN, CSF1/CSF2, CCL5, MMP9).
