circNT5E is an NT5E-derived human circular RNA that is up-regulated in glioblastoma and increases with glioma clinical grade. It promotes glioblastoma growth, proliferation, invasion, migration, and xenograft tumor formation while inhibiting apoptosis, mainly by acting as a sponge for tumor-suppressive miR-422a and regulating NT5E, SOX4, PI3KCA and downstream p-Akt/p-Smad2 signaling. Its biogenesis is promoted by ADARB2 binding to NT5E pre-mRNA flanking intronic elements.
