Associated gene: FHL1, HDAC8, PTPRM
Associated microRNA: hsa-mir-1271-5p, hsa-mir-223-3p, hsa-mir-96-5p, hsa-mir-208a-5p, hsa-miR-223-3p, hsa-miR-455-3p, hsa-miR-890, hsa-miR-138-2-3p, hsa-miR-106a-5p, hsa-miR-17-5p
Biological function: Promotes HCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion; associated with HCC recurrence and metastasis.
Molecular mechanism: Predicted ceRNA mechanism involving miRNAs and downstream genes FHL1 and HDAC8; hypothesized regulation of parental gene PTPRM.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); ceRNA regulation (other)

Detected method:
Q
S
Validation methods:

RNA-seq; RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; MTT; Colony Formation Assay; Transwell Assay; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

CircPTPRM expression positively correlated with HCC recurrence and metastasis; higher expression correlated with tumor recurrence and metastasis.

Description:

circPTPRM is significantly upregulated in human HCC tissues and hepatoma cell lines. Its high expression is associated with recurrence and metastasis, and silencing circPTPRM suppresses HCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion in vitro. The authors further predicted a ceRNA-related mechanism and hypothesized possible regulation involving its parental gene PTPRM, but these mechanisms were not experimentally confirmed.
