Associated gene: -
Associated microRNA: -
Biological function: Underexpressed in RR-MS peripheral blood and proposed as a blood biomarker for multiple sclerosis; no disease functional assays were reported.
Molecular mechanism: Bioinformatic analysis suggested shared miRNA targeting with circ_0005402 and possible cooperative regulation of these miRNAs; possible parental gene expression regulation or RBP interaction was discussed but not experimentally confirmed.
Biological pathway or process:

ceRNA regulation (other); other pathway/process (other)

Detected method:
Q
M
Validation methods:

Back-Splice Junction PCR / divergent primers PCR; RNase R Treatment; Sanger Sequencing; RT-qPCR; Microarray; Clinical Sample Validation; ROC Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

Potential blood biomarker for RR-MS; ROC AUC 0.706 with sensitivity 55% and specificity 88.9%.

Description:

circ_0035560, renamed circ_0003452_2 by the authors after Sanger sequencing revealed a different junction structure, is a human ANXA2-derived circRNA significantly downregulated in RR-MS blood. It was proposed as a new biomarker for multiple sclerosis, with ROC AUC 0.706, and bioinformatic analysis suggested shared miRNA regulation with circ_0005402.

Confidence score:

0.6841
