circPVT1 is a PVT1-derived human circRNA that is frequently upregulated in gastric cancer tissues, partly due to genomic DNA amplification at its locus. It promotes gastric cancer cell proliferation by functioning as a cytoplasmic miRNA sponge, especially for the miR-125 family, with downstream effects including E2F2 and possibly c-Myc regulation. Clinically, higher circPVT1 expression is associated with better OS and DFS and serves as an independent prognostic marker in gastric cancer. |
