circLIFRSA (hsa_circ_0072298), derived from LIFRSA, is down-regulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines and mainly localizes to the cytoplasm. It suppresses malignant phenotypes by sponging miR-1305 to relieve repression of PTEN, thereby reducing AKT phosphorylation, inhibiting growth/proliferation and promoting apoptosis. Blood circLIFRSA shows diagnostic potential for distinguishing lung cancer/NSCLC from benign lung disease.
