Description:

circ-AKT3 is down-regulated in blood and urine of BKPyV-infected kidney transplant recipients and shows a negative correlation with miR-296-3p. The study supports a putative ceRNA axis in which reduced circ-AKT3 may permit increased miR-296-3p activity and contribute to repression of CDH1 (E-cadherin), with potential utility as a diagnostic biomarker for active BKPyV infection.
