miR-331-3p |
| Biological function: |
Suppresses proliferation, migration, invasion and metastasis; inhibits HCC tumor growth in vivo |
| Molecular mechanism: |
Acts as a ceRNA sponge for miR-331-3p, thereby increasing PHLPP1/PHLPP2 expression and restraining HCC progression |
| Biological pathway or process: |
proliferation (inhibits); migration (inhibits); invasion (inhibits); metastasis (inhibits); ceRNA regulation (promotes) |

| Clinical significance: |
Low circRASSF5 expression is associated with larger tumor size, vascular invasion, portal vein tumor thrombus and unfavorable prognosis; lower circRASSF5 correlates with poorer OS and RFS |
| Description: |
circRASSF5 is down-regulated in HCC and functions as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting proliferation, migration, invasion and metastasis in vitro and in xenograft models. It mainly localizes to the cytoplasm and acts as a ceRNA sponge for miR-331-3p, thereby increasing PHLPP1/PHLPP2 expression. Low circRASSF5 is associated with aggressive clinicopathologic features and poorer survival. |
