Description:

In atrial fibrillation, hsa_circ_0000118 is upregulated in atrial tissue and higher plasma levels predict worse prognosis. Functionally, it promotes atrial fibrosis/structural remodeling by enhancing cardiac fibroblast migration and collagen I/III production via a ceRNA mechanism involving miR-34a-5p and Smad4.
