Clinical significance:

circ_0000520 high expression was associated with poor overall survival; high expression was associated with lymph node metastasis and TNM stage

Description:

In breast cancer, circ_0000520 is up-regulated and functions as an oncogenic circRNA that promotes proliferation, migration, invasion and tumor growth while inhibiting apoptosis. Mechanistically, it is mainly cytoplasmic and acts as a miRNA sponge for miR-1296-5p, thereby relieving miR-1296-mediated repression of SP1 (circ_0000520/miR-1296/SP1 axis). High circ_0000520 expression is associated with worse overall survival.
