High peritumoral circWDR25 expression was associated with OS and RFS, predicted poorer prognosis, and was an independent predictor for OS and RFS in patients with HCC.
This study identifies HSC-derived exosomal circWDR25 as an oncogenic circRNA in HCC. circWDR25 promotes HCC proliferation, migration, invasion, tumor growth, EMT, and immune checkpoint-related PD-L1/CTLA-4 expression mainly through the circWDR25/miR-4474-3p/ALOX15 regulatory axis. Clinically, high peritumoral circWDR25 expression is associated with poor OS and RFS and may serve as a prognostic biomarker.
