circSOD2 is upregulated in NAFLD and mainly localized in the cytoplasm. It functions as a ceRNA to sponge miR-532-3p, thereby de-repressing TXNIP and activating the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome cascade, which promotes inflammatory pyroptosis in hepatocytes and worsens NAFLD phenotypes in vivo. |
