circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: IL6 mRNA, IL6, STAT3, p-STAT3, cyclin D1, MMP2
Associated microRNA: miR-149-5p
Biological function: promotes GC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, tumor growth, growth and metastasis
Molecular mechanism: circBGN functions as a sponge of miR-149-5p, promotes IL6 expression, and activates IL6/STAT3 signaling pathway
Biological pathway or process:

JAK/STAT (promotes); proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); ceRNA regulation (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
H
Validation methods:

Back-Splice Junction PCR / divergent primers PCR; RNase R Treatment; Sanger Sequencing; RT-qPCR; FISH / smFISH; Nuclear-Cytoplasmic Fractionation; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; CCK8; EdU Staining; Colony Formation Assay; Transwell Assay; Luciferase Reporter Assay; ELISA; Western Blot; In Vivo Animal Model; IHC (Immunohistochemistry); Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

Elevated circBGN expression levels were observed in patients with larger tumor size and more tumor stage; circBGN may be a possible therapeutic target in GC

Description:

circBGN is overexpressed in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines and acts as an oncogenic circRNA. It promotes GC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and xenograft tumor growth by sponging miR-149-5p, increasing IL6 expression, and activating the IL6/STAT3 signaling pathway. Its elevated expression is associated with larger tumor size and more advanced tumor stage, suggesting potential therapeutic relevance.

Confidence score:

0.84
