Circ-ZKSCAN1 is significantly up-regulated in NSCLC and is associated with malignant characteristics, poor prognosis, tumor size and clinical stage; it may serve as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target.
Circ-ZKSCAN1 (hsa_circ_0001727), derived from ZKSCAN1, is up-regulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines and high expression is linked to larger tumors, advanced clinical stage and poorer survival. Functionally, it promotes NSCLC proliferation, migration, invasion and xenograft tumor growth and suppresses apoptosis. Mechanistically, circ-ZKSCAN1 sponges miR-330-5p to increase FAM83A expression, forming a feedback loop that inhibits MAPK/ERK signaling and promotes NSCLC progression.

Circ-ZKSCAN1 regulates FAM83A expression and inactivates MAPK signaling by targeting miR-330-5p to promote non-small cell lung cancer progression.
