Associated gene: E2F1
Associated microRNA: -
Biological function: promotes cigarette smoke/CSE-induced senescence of AT-II cells; inhibits autophagy in AT-II cells leading to lung injury
Molecular mechanism: circFOXO3 binds E2F1 and suppresses its nuclear translocation, thereby inhibiting autophagy and promoting AT-II cell senescence
Biological pathway or process:

autophagy (inhibits); apoptosis (other); senescence (promotes); other pathway/process (other)

Description:

In mouse AT-II MLE-12 cells and a cigarette-smoke-exposed mouse model, circFOXO3 is induced by cigarette smoke/CSE and promotes AT-II cell senescence. Mechanistically, circFOXO3 binds the transcription factor E2F1, suppresses its nuclear translocation, inhibits autophagy, and thereby aggravates lung injury-related senescence.

Confidence score:

0.5925

Other information
