promotes fibroblast proliferation, migration, and ECM deposition; inhibits apoptosis; exacerbates inflammatory response and oxidative stress in keloid |

circFoxp1 is cytoplasmic and interacts with the RNA-binding protein RACK1; circFoxp1 overexpression is associated with reduced RACK1 levels and enhanced inflammation/oxidative stress-related programs. |

| Clinical significance: |
circFoxp1 may serve as a novel, promising therapeutic target for keloid |
| Description: |
circFoxp1 is up-regulated in human keloid tissues and mainly localizes to the cytoplasm. Its overexpression promotes fibroblast proliferation, migration/invasion and ECM deposition while inhibiting apoptosis, and it can aggravate keloid growth in a patient-derived xenograft nude-mouse implantation model. Mechanistically, circFoxp1 interacts with the RNA-binding protein RACK1 and is associated with inflammatory/oxidative-stress related changes. |
